LG Ally getting Android 2.2 update in February

LG Ally

We told you back in August that the LG Ally would be upgraded to Android 2.2, and today LG has ‘fessed up to the update and finally told us when we can expect it to arrive.  According to a post over at LG Forum, the venerable Ally will be upgraded to Froyo in February of next year, though no specific date was mentioned.  Still, better than slamming System Update every day, hoping that that’ll finally be the day that your new dessert arrives, right?

Considering that it’s entirely possible that we’ll be seeing Android 2.4/3.0, aka Honeycomb, by the time that February rolls around, it’s kind of disappointing that the Ally will be relegated to Android 2.2.  That seems to be the way things go with the more mid and low-range Android phones a lot of the time, though.  Hopefully once Google starts slowing down the OS updates to once a year or so, users won’t end up getting saddled with “upgrades” that are an OS revision or two old.
